Jingyi Cao
Flute
Since 2017, Jingyi Cao has studied with Prof. Christina Fassbender at the Berlin
University of the Arts (UdK Berlin). In 2022, she continued her studies there in the Master’s programme in Flute Performance. In 2023, she additionally began the Master’s programme in Historical Flute (Traverso) with Prof. Christoph Huntgeburth and Prof. Georges Barthel at UdK Berlin.
As an orchestral musician, Jingyi Cao performs regularly with various orchestras and ensembles. She appears as principal flutist with Sinfonia Berlin, Neue Philharmonie Berlin, Berliner Residenz Orchester, Mozart Ensemble, and Sinfonieorchester Berlin, and performs as second flutist and piccolo player with the Berliner Symphoniker and the Sinfonisches Kammerorchester Berlin. Since 2025, she has also been engaged as an extra musician for stage music productions at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Her concert appearances have taken her to venues including the Great Hall and Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Neues Palais in Potsdam.
Since 2022, flutist Jingyi Cao and oboist Boyi Ruan have performed together as the Berlin-based chamber music duo Beijing Floboe. Dedicated to the distinctive combination of flute and oboe, the ensemble explores both classical repertoire and innovative concert formats.
Since 2024, they have been the only woodwind duo admitted to the Master’s programme in Chamber Music for Established Ensembles at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin), where they study with Prof. Vineta Sareika and Prof. Gregor Sigl. Beijing Floboe has performed at venues including the Berliner Philharmonie and has been invited to the Elchinger Musiktage. The duo has also received several international awards, including First Prize at the 5th Swiss International Competition and Second Prize at the International Kuhlau Chamber Music Competition.
Alongside her performing career, Jingyi Cao is a dedicated teacher of flute and
music theory. She has successfully prepared numerous students for entrance examinations at leading German conservatories, including the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, the University of Music Bremen, and the Hochschule für Musik Saar. In addition, several of her students have achieved outstanding results in the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
Since June 2025, Jingyi Cao has been teaching flute at the Evangelische Schule Charlottenburg in Berlin. Since August 2026, she has also been a flute teacher at the Hans-Werner-Henze Music School in Berlin Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Beginning
with the Winter Semester 2026/27, she joins the faculty of SRH University.
