Scot Weir Vocal

From 1985 to 1989, Weir was a member of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where he expanded his repertoire with roles including Belfiore in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera and Veit in Lortzing’s Undine.

In 1992, he appeared as a guest at La Monnaie in Brussels as Hylas in Berlioz’s Les Troyens. In 1998, he performed the title role in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria at both La Monnaie and the Wiener Festwochen. He has also appeared at leading venues and festivals including the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival, as well as in Amsterdam, Paris and Turin.

Alongside his operatic career, Weir has been particularly active as a concert and recital singer, with a special focus on Lieder and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. He has worked with distinguished conductors including Claudio Abbado, Charles Dutoit, Philippe Herreweghe, Charles Mackerras, Roger Norrington, Helmuth Rilling and Peter Schreier.

In 2001, he performed Hans Zender’s version of Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise with chamber orchestra in a staged production by the Hamburg Ballet, choreographed by John Neumeier. In 2002, he performed both Schubert’s original version and Zender’s adaptation of Winterreise in Winterthur with pianist Burkhard Schaeffer.

Weir founded the Chama Music Festival in New Mexico in 1990. In addition to his performing career, he has been extensively involved in teaching. He has lectured at universities in the United States, taught at the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, and served as Professor of Voice at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. He has also held a professorship in voice and chamber music at the Zurich University of the Arts.

Brzakovic became the artistic director of the international masterclass and opera festival "Oper Oder Spree" in Germany for which she has worked as a voice coach since 2007. Brzakovic not only invests her time working with young singers but also as the vocal coach of the Staatsoper Berlin children's chorus. She has been engaged as a vocal coach for children and young soloists in many projects with Sir Simon Rattle ,Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim.

Brzakovic's work as vocal coach for the "Junges Consortium Berlin" youth choir contributed to the group winning three gold medals at the International Choir Grand Prix 2017. 

Alongside her work with children and young people Brzakovic supports opera singers worldwide from Cuba, Brazil, the Baltics, Italy, Austria, USA as well as Germany. Her students are successful singers working in opera houses such as Staatsoper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and many other German houses.

Since she is an examination expert at International Swiss Opera Studio at Hochschule der Künste Bern/Biel in Switzerland.
